Texas Hold’Em
2 Card Texas Hold’em is undoubtedly the most played and most popular form of poker. Played all over the world in every country with increasingly bigger cash prizes for every tournament Texas Hold’em is growing more and more. Referred to as the Cadillac of poker (by Doyle Brunson) and with good reason, many professional players use Texas Hold’em as their primary income and full time job.
The evolution of Texas Hold’em
No one knows for sure where this game originated but a clue could be in the name, many believe this version of poker derived from 7 card stud and more than likely originated in Texas. The first instances of it being played in a casino were in Las Vegas at the infamous Golden Nugget casino, for a few years this was Texas Hold’em’s only home. It wasn’t until late 2003 that this form of poker started to be accepted by regular poker players but it was still relatively unknown to the general public.
Soon after Texas Hold’em began making appearances at more tournaments and soon became mainstream. Since then it is the most played version of poker and has secured itself a place in today’s pop culture. Due to this the sales of poker supplies such as poker chips, sets and tables have sky rocketed and took poker to a new level of popularity. More recently home poker tournaments have become the latest craze, with poker tables available at cut prices it has made organizing poker nights at home more affordable and more accessible to poker fans.

The original burger, or hamburger, derives from the city of Hamburg in northern Germany but it was very different from what we understand as a burger today. The Hamburger or Hamburg steak was a steak which had been pounded to tenderize it. How that came to be the name for the modern hamburger is not clear.
It is known, however, that minced or chopped beef made into the form of a patty was fed to sick civil war soldiers by Dr James Salisbury; known as a Salissbury steak it is this that is thought of as the precursor of today’s dish. Minced beef had been use in meat pies for hundreds of years an example being Russian beef tartar.
Putting a burger in a bun is an idea thought to originate from when Charles and Frank Menches ran out of bacon in their bacon butties in 1885 and replaced it with cooked minced beef. Many states in the USA claim the hamburger as their own with many inventors being put forward. Perhaps the most famous is Charles Nagreen, known as Hamburger Charlie, who, according to the Wisconsin Legislature, first used the name Hamburger in 1885; there is in Wisconsin a Hamburger hall of fame and an annual burger festival.
Connecticut has an equally plausible claimant in Louis Lassen of New Haven and Texas would claim the inventor was Fletch Davis from Athens, Texas who, it is also claimed, invented the term French Fries. A modern burger is usually defined as a cooked minced meat patty, normally beef, in a bread roll. It is often served with onions, cheese or salad together with tomato ketchup, mayonnaise or mustard. Many people think of the hamburger in a bun as now the USA’s national food with, on average, 3 burgers consumed per person per week.
While minced beef is the common form many other meats and seafood are used and in addition vegetarian burgers (veggie burgers) are now often available. In some establishments higher class burgers than those traditionally available at fast food restaurants are offered made with, for example, sirloin steak and the customer is given the choice of rare, medium or well done.
Whether fast food or high class though, cheese etc is still used as a topping or an extra layer in the bun, and French fries are often served on the side. Perhaps not as healthy as the average Mediterranean dish the hamburger looks like it is here to stay and has become an integral part of the modern diet. The current world record for the world’s largest proper hamburger is apparently 134 pounds but as records go this one is to say the least a little silly and anyhow no doubt others would claim larger versions. What else would you expect from America and American food?
Dealing with slugs and snails in the garden
If you don’t crop vegetables then the odd slug and snail attack on your plants is a minor nuisance. However when you start growing your own fruit and vegetables you’ll find that the attacks from the slugs can devastate a crop. Whether they come and eat the plants you’ve just put out, whether they decimate the fruit just starting to get ripe, or whether they munch away and strip all the leaves off, it’s all soul destroying and means you’ll not be eating the crops from your plants.
There’s something slugs must find delicious about freshly sprouted seedlings, newly planted out young plants and anything that looks like it’s almost edible to humans will be attractive to slugs. If you find silvery traces on the soil or the leaves, and huge holes eaten in leaves, or even the whole plant disappeared then this is the work of the humble slug.
There are several things you can do to prevent them. Grow you plants up in the air away from them - hanging baskets are almost immune from slug attack, but this isn’t a practical thing for most gardeners! You can put down slug pellets - but read the instructions carefully. Are they suitable for vegetables, how long should you leave it after applying them before you can harvest the crop, is there a limit to how much you should apply, does it need applying again after rain? Chemicals can be really effective but they can be absorbed by plants and are not good for wildlife nearby.
You can try beer traps. This involves sinking a container partly into the ground and then filling with beer. The slugs love beer and will flock to the pub you’ve just made them, get drunk and drown. You need to cover the trap to stop the rain diluting the beer, and to top the beer up from time to time. You might also need to move the huge number of dead slugs at some point. It’s very effective if you use it right, but too shallow a container just gets you drunken slugs.
Copper tape around raised beds might work, but would probably not be completely effective, it’s certainly worth a try for expensive plants you may have in pots, as well as raising them up on blocks off the ground a little to at least make it harder for the slugs to reach the plant, and to reduce the number of daytime hiding places. Some people swear by crushed egg shells on the ground as a way of stopping slugs crossing it.
There are now slug nematodes which are naturally occurring micro-organisms that kill slugs both above and below ground, but are not harmful to wildlife!
You can never completely win the war on slugs but there’s certainly plenty of things you can try.
Why bother with cardio?

Why bother with cardio!? Do it right and all your fat loss troubles will go away!
When doing any form of cardio you should do it to improve your over all health and fitness, the secondary reason for doing this is to lose weight or cut fat. The problem with cardio is it can cause you to lose muscle mass if done incorrectly. So many people bulk up then lose all their muscle mass from doing long boring cardio sessions that can last between 60 to 90 minutes! To anyone who knows what they’re doing this is clearly over kill!
Our first lesson is: Stop wasting your time with those lengthy sessions of cardio in the gym and work smarter, not harder!
Forget all those fancy machines like ellipticals and treadmills, realistically 20 minutes of something that you take pleasure in doing. (not sex!)
The key here is to employ a set of intense but short, fat burning routines. If you vary what you do for cardio then the body will not be able to adapt and slow down your fat loss but will also keep you focused on something new.
Lesson two: Stick to 3 intense 20 minute cardio sessions per week. Vary the exercise and do something you like (skipping/boxing/spin bike) Remember to eat a small amount of complex carbs before you participate and drink a protein shake when you have finished. This as a whole will help you to lose less muscle when cutting away that fat!
How to charge for event management services
Posted by admin in Event Management on June 23rd, 2009
If you are planning to start your own event management company and wondering how much you should charge for your services, then this article is for you. One thing is for sure, if you don’t charge fairly, you won’t get business. So it is very important to know how much you should charge that will not only cover your operating cost but will also brings profits and at the same time is competitive.
The fees that you will charge vary from market to market and also from event to event. You can’t have fit for all fee structure. Also if you wish to organize events on international level, the fees will vary from country to country, as living cost vary. This means if you charge $15000 for organizing a concert in New York, you can’t charge same fees for organizing a similar event in India or say Australia. Majority of clients are interested in knowing the total cost of the whole event in advance and detailed breakdown of expenses at pre-event, at-event and post-event levels. They will tell you their requirements and then expect flat fees from you. As an event planner, it is your responsibility to calculate/estimate all the visible and possible expenses in advance and come out with a fair quote. One of the best ways to calculate flat fees is on a per person basis. On an average, your fees should be 20-25% of the total cost of an event. This can be increased or decreased depending upon the level of competition in your market. You can also charge on hourly basis but that is something which is not recommended unless your client insists.

Voucher Codes - Way to Free Stuff
Why free stuff is fantastic. Whether it’s a voucher for a free bag of crisps, a free mug, or a free NASA poster sent from America, it’s always nice to get stuff for nothing. When you can get loads of free samples of products like shampoo, makeup, perfume and other cosmetics you’ll find that you can try all the new products without spending a bean.
But where do you find the samples?
Some magazines give away samples of beauty products stuck to the ads. It’s always worth saving these up. they are useful for testing out new shampoos, or for taking on your holidays as they take up virtually no space at all.
When you get a free sample look for the voucher! They want you to try the product and then buy it, so frequently issue a voucher code to encourage you to buy it!
You sometimes find perfume samples too, and these are a great way of trying out new scents if you don’t have time to go into the shops and test a few out. You should only try a few out at a time anyway, so there’s no point in testing loads in one day. Being able to try on out at home means you can really tell whether you like the scent or not. My favourite samples are those you get at the supermarket. There are a couple of types. Pure giveaway promos where companies give you mini packets of the product to go away and try. A recent example of this was honey waffles (Which were delicious!) sometimes, it’s possibly to walk past them twice (On your way in and out of the store) to get an extra sample. The second type is the in store demonstrator. We recently got a freebie vegetable twirler gadget just for watching some guy’s sharp knife demonstration, and only last week we tried fruity jellies too. If you’ve got a Costco card they frequently sample lots of products - nice if you time it right and get lots of nibbles on your way round.
Luggage Scales - The Essential Travel Gadget!
Whether you book your holidays or business trips online or through a high street travel agent you would be forgiven for thinking that once you had paid for your airline tickets, then any further monetary transactions from you to the airline would only be made after you have come to a decision to make an extra purchase, such as an in flight snack or beverage.
However, this is not always the case and having found and paid for what seems like a great deal on your flights, many airlines will attempt to increase the overall prices by introducing less well advertised costs that you may not be expecting. Any unforeseen costs at the airport are rarely welcomed by travellers during what is definitely the worst and most stressful part of any trip. One hidden cost or fine that the majority of people are aware of but a lot of the time are unprepared for are the excess baggage charges, that do range from airline to airline, but can be substantial.
This is a cost that you should always be prepared for and can easily be by having some luggage scales, so you know in advance that you are within the airline’s luggage allowance or that you are aware that you may have to pay some extra at luggage check in. Not only relieving you of extra costs, these luggage scales will also relieve you of any embarrassment when holding up the queue trying to scramble through your luggage in order to find items to sacrifice in the name of avoiding the excess baggage costs. The beauty of these new luggage scales is that they are digital and portable, which gives a more accurate reading and also means that they can go with you to ensure that you are aware of how much your luggage is weighed down by all your duty free and presents on the return journey.

Bagga Menswear sell designer clothes for men!
They’ve got some fantastic clothes including an amazing selection of denim jeans. Their G Star Jeans are really nice - they’re a dark grey which will slowly fade with time, made from selvedge denim. Great, fairly slim fit - not too skinny though and with a Cinch-back that allows you to pull them in a bit to make them fit just right. The styling is tasteful and not too overt, with a subtle pocket logo that you’ll love. These are jeans you’ll enjoy wearing for a long time. They’re easy to wear and will look good with smarter shirts or casual t-shirts.
If you’re after bolder jeans that will stand out a lot more then you should look at the Evisu Jeans. These have a very bold jean design on the back pockets. They’re nice dark jeans again that’ll be great for wearing just about anywhere!
Bagga Menswear website is fantastic for the photos of the products they display. You can see zoomed pictures of the detailing and there’s usually several photos of each item. This gives you a chance to see what they’re really like - and see in close up the important bits - the logos and emblems that you want the designer names for! They also give details of what size is being worn in the photo and how tall the model is, or what size jeans he’s wearing. This is really useful as it gives you a really good idea of what the clothing will look like on - rather than some shops which only display clothes flat or on an non-descript mannequin!
